Look, if you're shopping for a custom LED sign manufacturer because "MOQ 1 piece" sounds like a unicorn, I'll save you the phone call. It isn't. We've run 3,000 square meters of factory floor in Lu'an, Anhui since 2010, and we do single pieces every week. But here's the catch most buyers don't ask about.
The ugly truth is that a factory can print "MOQ 1" on a website and still ghost you when you send a weird one-off drawing. We won't. But we also won't pretend a single piece gets the same pricing as 50 pieces.
Our MOQ is one piece. Not one letter — one job. A full set of front-lit channel letters spelling "PHARMACY" is one order, even though it's eight letters. Same with a single back-lit halo, one light box, or one stainless steel logo. We've shipped worldwide from a 50+ worker shop. A one-off doesn't break our schedule.
Here's what nobody tells you: low minimum order doesn't mean low setup cost. We still have to program the laser, bend the returns, cut the acrylic face, and test the LEDs. That's labor. A one-piece order pays a higher per-letter price than a 100-piece order because the setup gets spread across fewer units. That's not a scam. That's math.
But the per-letter markup over bulk isn't huge. Our front-lit letters start at $20 each. Back-lit halo starts at $35. Stainless steel non-lit runs $15-40. If you're comparing to US retail installed at $200-700 per front-lit letter, you're still saving 50-65% on product even after shipping and the 30% Section 301 tariff.
I've seen this go wrong: a buyer priced a single sign from three factories, picked the cheapest, and their "MOQ 1" factory added a $75 "artwork fee" after deposit. Ask about setup charges before you pay anything. We don't charge an artwork fee for a standard vector file. If your logo arrives as a JPEG, that's different.
The ugly truth is that one-piece buyers get burned on materials more than anything. You can build a back-lit sign for $35 using domestic acrylic and cheap LEDs. It will look fine for a year. Then the domestic acrylic starts yellowing at 12-18 months because it lacks the UV inhibitors in Mitsubishi or Degussa sheet. Imported UV-resistant acrylic lasts 5-8 years. Domestic lasts 1-2. That $35 sign just became a $900 reinstall.
We use 90-92% light transmittance acrylic. For any sign over 2.5 meters, we spec 5mm or thicker sheet. Thinner 2mm or 3mm acrylic on a wide face bows and looks cheap. Same with stainless: 304 has 18% chromium and 8% nickel, lasts 10+ years outdoors. 316 has 2-3% molybdenum and lasts 15+ years in coastal or industrial air, but costs 20-30% more. If your job is Miami Beach, pay for 316. If it's Ohio, 304 is fine.
