SMD 2835 at 100-150 lumens per watt is the industry standard. If a quote says "SMD 5050" but you didn't ask for RGB, ask why. Some suppliers use 5050 to sound premium.
Quality modules from Samsung, Osram, or Blueview last 5+ years real world. Cheap modules die in 12-18 months.
Here's the ugly truth: no one replaces the module. They replace the whole letter because the seal is silicone and the acrylic is glued. I've seen a buyer save $500 by using cheap modules. Sixteen months later, half the sign was dark.

Aluminum: one-third the weight of steel, 8-12 year outdoor life, naturally rust-proof. 1.0-1.6mm thick. Anodized, powder coated, or brushed.
LED: SMD 2835 is 100-150 lm/W. SMD 5050 is RGB capable. SMD 5730 hits 40-60 lm per chip, highest brightness. L70 ≥50,000 hours is the spec you want.
