It's a way of buying where the person answering your email is the person who owns the welding machine. That can be fantastic. It can also be a nightmare if you don't know what you're asking for.

The ugly truth is that a lot of "factory direct" suppliers aren't factories. They're brokers with a laptop, a rental office in Shenzhen, and a list of three plants that each think they're competing for the job. They add a 15% fee on top and call it service. You'll never know. We're a factory. You can ask for a video walkthrough of our floor anytime. But even a real factory can't fix a bad file, an impossible deadline, or a client who changes their mind after you've already cut 100 letters.
## What We Can Do
Here's exactly what we're good at. We build
front-lit channel letters for $20-80 per letter, back-lit halo letters for $35-120, stainless steel non-lit letters for $15-40, and light boxes for $80-250 a square meter. That's factory price. Your installed retail price in the US runs $200-700 per letter front-lit, $400-1,000 for halo. Do the math before you decide you're too big to work with a factory.
We can do one piece. Our MOQ is 1. We don't make you order a container. We can ship a few letters to your shop door. That's how most of our importers start — with one prototype, one project, or one loyal customer's sign. Then they grow.
We can turn your order in 7-15 days. Not 90 days, not "it shipped last week but I can't find the tracking number." Seven to fifteen days from approved design to export packaging. That's the actual lead time for standard channel letters in common materials.
## What We Can't Do
Let's get this out of the way. We can't make a $40 front-lit letter look exactly like a $700 hand-fabricated architectural piece. We can make it look very good. We can make it last 5+ years outdoors. But if your project needs mirror-polished edges with zero visible seams and a gold-leaf interior, that's a different budget and a different craftsman. Know where your project sits before you ask for a quote.
We can't guarantee your local building inspector will accept our signs. We have CE, RoHS, ISO 9001. We don't have UL 48 on every product, because UL 48 costs $4,000-15,000 per product line and takes 4-9 months. If you're shipping to the US and the permit office requires UL, you have to ask us before you order. We'll tell you the truth about whether we can do it, what it costs, and how long it adds. Sometimes the answer is no. That's better than a surprise at the permit counter.
And we can't chase down a shipping container on a Saturday night. We ship through brokers we've used for years. But once the crate leaves our dock, it's on a boat. That's what the freight forwarder is for.
## The Real Ordering Process, Step by Step
### 1. Your Inquiry
You email us. You send a vector file — AI, PDF, DXF, CDR, whatever you have. You send the dimensions, the mounting surface, the distance from the sign to the street, and how the power gets there. If you don't have all that, send what you have. We'll ask questions.
Here's what I'd rather not see: a client sending a screenshot of a logo from an Instagram post and asking for "a sign like this." We can't cut metal from a screenshot. We'll ask for the real file, or we'll trace it and charge you $35 per hour for the redraw. That's not markup. That's labor.
### 2. Quote and Questions
Within 24 hours, you get a quote. Not a range. Real numbers based on real materials. For a 3mm acrylic face, we use UV-resistant Mitsubishi or Degussa acrylic that gives 90-92% light transmittance and holds color 5-8 years. Domestic acrylic costs less but yellows in 1-2 years. I'll quote both. Don't ask me to quote "good acrylic." That doesn't mean anything.
You'll also get questions. Is the sign going on a storefront with a direct power line, or a freestanding monument with buried conduit? What's the wind load? Is this near salt water? If it's coastal, I'll push you to stainless 316 instead of 304. It costs 20-30% more, but it survives 15+ years in salt air. 304 is fine for most inland jobs. Don't overpay. But don't cheap out at the beach.
Look, I've been doing this long enough to know that the guy who says "I want it cheap" is the same guy who calls three weeks later asking why the cheap LED modules died at 12 months. Quality modules from Samsung/Osram run L70 for 50,000 hours — five-plus years real-world. Cheap modules give you 12-18 months. That's a fact, not a sales pitch.
### 3. Design Proof and Approval
We send you a DXF with exact cut lines, a rendered layout, and a spec sheet of the materials. You check the dimensions, the mounting pattern, the return depth, the color. You approve. We don't make changes after approval. If your client changes their mind next week, that's a new order and a new deposit. 70% of the sign disasters I've seen came from a client who said "just go ahead" before checking the proof.
### 4. Fabrication
Here's where the factory floor takes over. Laser cutting with ±0.1mm precision, 1-2 days. TIG welding for the returns, 1-2 days. Grinding and polishing the metal, 1-2 days. CNC cutting the acrylic faces, 1 day. LED assembly, 1-2 days. Sealing everything with neutral silicone, 1 day. Then the aging test — we run the lights for 8-12 hours straight before QC looks at them. The whole run takes 7-15 days total. For a standard order of
stainless steel letters or front-lit channel letters, it's usually on the shorter end. For
neon flex signs with custom bends and complex colors, it leans toward 15 days.
### 5. 100% QC and a Video Call
Before we pack anything, every sign gets checked. Every one, not a sample. We also do a video call with you — or at least send a real-time video walkaround — so you see the actual parts with the lights on and off. If something's not right, we fix it while the metal is still in our hands. Nobody flies to China to inspect a $900 order. But you can watch me point a phone camera at your letters while a welder grinds out a scratch. That's the next best thing.
### 6. Packaging and Shipping
We wrap each letter in foam, put it in a carton, and crate the cartons in a plywood export frame. That's not optional. I've seen what happens when you skip the crate on a sea shipment. No. Just no.
Your shipping options: Express 7-10 days, $30-100 for small boxes. Air about 10 days, $4-12 per kg. Sea about 65 days, $80-200 per m³ for LCL, $1,200-3,000 for a full container. And yes, if you're in the US, you owe Section 301 tariffs — roughly 30%. That's not us. We don't pocket that. Build it into your quote before you promise a client a price.
### 7. Installation Is On You
We don't install in Ohio. We don't fly there with a ladder. But we'll give you installation drawings, mounting specs, and torque values for the hardware. If you're a sign shop, that's all you need. If you're a business owner trying to DIY a 6-meter halo-lit

## Rookie Mistakes That Cost You Money
- Asking for a photo-based logo. Vector file, or you're paying for a redraw.
- Not measuring the mounting surface. "It's a wall" doesn't help us if the wall is brick, glass, or steel — different anchors, different return depths.
- Ignoring color temperature. 3000K is warm and cozy. 6000K is blue and harsh. For a storefront, 4000-5000K is the commercial sweet spot. But specify it.
- Ordering acrylic that's too thin. Up to 2.5m long, use 3mm. Over 2.5m, go 5mm. Otherwise you'll watch it flutter in the wind.
